During your free time, from your apartment you will enjoy the real local life. Bologna is full of food shops, artisan studios, cafés, markets, trattorias, churches, museums. Or you can just stroll in the center under the "porticos"..
This is the detailed program of the tour:
Thursday – Arrival and welcome dinner
We meet you at Bologna airport or train station and take you to your accommodation Casatori. A very pretty apartment, private and completely independent, situated in the heart of Bologna, few minutes walking from the Two Towers, symbol of Bologna, and from the main square, Piazza Maggiore. A first introduction to the traditional Emilia Romagna cuisine at a welcoming restaurant in Bologna center.
Friday – Parmigiano Reggiano cheese and Balsamic Vinegar factories visits
In the early morning we take you to see where and how Parmigiano Reggiano is produced. Watch the “casaro” transforming in an hour the milk into a wonderful wheel of cheese!!
After the visit we taste the delicious aged Parmigiano.
Then we proceed our journey to a local “acetaia”, where the traditional balsamic vinegar of Modena is made and aged.
The owner shows us his barrels full of the precious balsamic vinegar and shares with us his passion and proud for the result of years of work. Of course the visit can not end without a tasting of balsamic at various ages.
Back to your apartment in Bologna and free time.
In the afternoon we meet you again for a two hour walking tour of our favorite spots and hidden corners of Bologna. During our tour we offer you a great gelato at our favorite gelateria. Dinner free.
Saturday – Shopping at the food market to buy ingredients for the Italian cooking class and dinner
In the morning we meet you and walk together to the beautiful central food market of Bologna, called "Mercato di mezzo", where the native families of Bologna still go everyday to buy their fresh food: fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, cheese. We guide you through the shops and explain you about the history, culture and traditions of the gastronomy of the region.
Food shopping to buy the ingredients for the afternoon class.
Light lunch at our favorite salumeria in the market area, based on regional salumi and cheeses with a glass of wine.
In the afternoon cooking class at your apartment. We will cook together a four course menu of traditional dishes of the region, that include fresh hand-made pasta, for your farewell dinner.
Sunday – Departure day
In the morning we take you to Bologna airport or train station.

About Casatori
Casatori, located in the heart of Bologna, 10 minutes walking from the main square Piazza Maggiore and the Two Towers, symbol of Bologna, is a very pretty and romantic mansard roof apartment, private and completely independent.
The apartment -65 sqms- is situated in a historical building that dates in some parts from the 13th century. It is at the second floor -no lift- and is composed of an entrance, a main bedroom with double bed, (another eventual room with single bed if the participants are three), a complete bathroom with shower; a short wooden stair takes you to the upper level with a large living room with kitchen area, and another small bathroom (with only WC). The apartment is completely furnished with A/C in the living room, a ceiling fan in the bedroom, laundry machine, dishwasher, satellite Sky TV, hairdrier, heating, refrigerator, freezer, electric oven, all bed, table and bath linen.
The apartment is very quiet, but very close to food markets, supermarkets, bars, shops, pizzerias, trattorias, restaurants, banks and more.
